about the hcma foundation, Inc

The Hillsborough County Medical Association (HCMA) Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that provides cash grants to non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay area for programs designed to promote awareness and support of health and health-related issues in Hillsborough County, Florida and surrounding areas.

The HCMA Foundation consists of a network of physicians and local businesses dedicated to enriching our community. Partnerships with the Tampa Bay business community is a fundamental goal of the HCMA, the HCMA Alliance, and the HCMA Foundation; and has been an essential component for the success of the Foundation Charity Golf Classic, the Foundation’s major fundraiser. HCMA Foundation Board

Michael Albrink, MD, FACS, is currently Professor of Surgery at USF. He is a graduate of Marshall University, The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and completed both residency and fellowship from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Albrink is married to Karen E. Wells, M.D. He is author of numerous papers and recipient of multiple teaching awards from USF.


Rand Altemose, MD , is a proud Air Force brat and veteran. He graduated from The Citadel in 1970 and, Medical University of South Carolina in 1974. He did his medical residency in the Air Force and a medical oncology fellowship at Emory University. After fulfilling his obligations to the Air Force, he moved to Tampa in 1981, where he started a Medical Oncology practice. He retired in 2017, and he and his wife moved out to Odessa, where they enjoy the yard/garden, animals, golf, and their children and grandchildren.

Richard Castellano, MD, a Tampa native, is the founder and CEO of Imagelift, specializing in local anesthesia facelifts, laser, and filler treatments. Attending USF for both his undergraduate degree and medical school, he completed his surgical training at the I.U.P.U.I. School of Medicine. He holds board certifications in both ABOHNS and ABFPRS, and is recognized as a Castle Connolly top doctor. He supports the Judeo-Christian Health Clinic and many local charities. He is the author of two WSJ bestsellers and provides mentoring and coaching for doctors across the country. Dr. Castellano lives in Tampa with his wife, three children, and two dogs.


Michael J. Foley, MD, FACR, is board certified in diagnostic radiology and nuclear radiology. He trained at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. Dr. Foley has been in practice in Tampa since 1983. He has served as Chairman of Radiology at Brandon Regional Medical Center and Dade City Hospital. Dr Foley also has expertise in interventional radiology and neuroradiology. He has proudly served as an Expert Forensic Radiologist throughout the State of Florida and the country.

H. Ronald Kennedy, MD, HCMA Foundation Treasurer, is a graduate of USF College of Medicine and currently serves as Board Chair of the Morsani Medical Alumni Society. He did his pathology residency at TGH and practiced at Quest Diagnostics for many years in their NJ corporate HQ serving as Senior Medical Director of Quality. After retiring, he returned to Tampa and became involved with USF Morsani where he volunteers two days a week teaching Doctoring for small groups of first-year medical students.


Hernan Leon, MD, is a founding member of the HCMA Foundation and serves as the Honorary Chairman. Dr. Leon is a retired OB/Gyn and a past president of the HCMA.

Stacey S. Pittman, HCMA Foundation Secretary, serves as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of BT Wealth Advisors, the wealth management division of The Bank of Tampa. Prior to joining BT Wealth Advisors, Ms. Pittman spent more than 16 years at Raymond James Financial. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Harvard University and also holds several certifications, including the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and the Certified Financial Planner designation. Ms. Pittman resides in South Tampa with her husband, Brandon, and their five children.

Bruce Shephard, MD, FACOG, HCMA Foundation President, is an obstetrician-gynecologist who retired from direct patient care in 2016 after 40 years of medical practice in Tampa. He maintains a clinical affiliation with USF as an Affiliate Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. A past president of the HCMA, he currently serves on HMO advisory boards for AvMed and Centene Health Plans and as an AHCA-contracted reviewer for EQ Health Solutions.

Jacqueline Wesolow, DO, born in Massachusetts, graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She is an internal medicine physician at Moffitt Cancer Center.
