Special Guest: Bobby Mukkamala, MD, AMA President
Dr. Mukkamala credits NIH-funded research for the targeted therapy that keeps his brain tumor at bay. But almost one year ago, he was diagnosed with an 8-cm tumor in his brain's left temporal lobe, while serving as president-elect of the AMA, and he wasn't sure he'd live long enough to get sworn in to his elected office.
Join your colleagues as Dr. Mukkamala shares his personal story of distress and challenges and how the experience profoundly changed him, spiritually and emotionally, and especially as a physician. "I was on death's door as a patient," he said. Now, "I have a better understanding of our healthcare system."
A passionate advocate for public health, Dr. Mukkamala is deeply committed to creating a more sustainable health system that better supports physicians and more effectively serves the needs of people and communities.
