Advocacy

HCMA Government Affairs Committee (GAC)

An important component of the HCMA is our ability to have a legislative presence. The Government Affairs Committee is at the forefront, serving as advocates on legislative efforts and key issues that impact physicians and their patients. For more information about the GAC or to receive the most recent FL Legislative Session Update, please contact Elke Lubin at Elubin@hcma.net.

HCMA Delegates to the Florida Medical Association (FMA)

HCMA Delegates to the FMA are elected and serve three-year terms. The HCMA Delegation prepares resolutions and assists in formulating a list of policy positions and directives to be adopted by the FMA House of Delegates and FMA Board of Governors, which is then presented to the legislative bodies in the State of Florida. To learn more about the HCMA Delegation, please contact Elke Lubin at Elubin@hcma.net.

Hillsborough Political Action Committee (HILLPAC)

Legislative advocacy is also demonstrated through HILLPAC, the bipartisan political arm of the HCMA. HILLPAC supports pro-medicine candidates at the state level who understand the importance of allowing physicians to care for their patients without burdensome governmental intrusions and unnecessary insurance mandates. The HILLPAC Board members are elected for two year terms. For more information, please contact Elke Lubin at Elubin@hcma.net.
