The Hillsborough County Medical Association (HCMA) serves as your local voice, addressing issues directly related to the practice of medicine. The HCMA serves as a resource for physicians, patients, and the community.
HCMA works diligently with the FMA to help keep bureaucracy, red tape, and physician costs to a minimum by protecting physicians’ practices from legal and regulatory intrusions.
Legislative advocacy. Example: The Medical Malpractice Reform Bill (HB479), which passed in 2011, was a direct result of the efforts of HCMA leaders who worked tirelessly for over a decade. This legislative victory began at the local level.
HILLPAC (the political arm of HCMA), interviews all candidates and supports those favorable to medicine. HCMA leaders maintain relationships with Hillsborough County legislators by educating them and lobbying on behalf of physicians.
The HCMA, in conjunction with Florida Blue, implemented the HCMA Health Plan which offers eligible members’ practices health insurance through a trust which will realize significant savings. Those who participated in last year’s open enrollment will not see increases in their premiums this year.
The HCMA’s award winning bi-monthly publication, The Bulletin, helps keep members informed, along with monthly E-News and email updates.
HCMA’s “Benefit Provider Program” is uniquely designed for members only. The program provides value to physicians with discounted products and/or services that, when utilized, far exceed the cost of annual HCMA dues. A few examples include:
